But alas, as previously indicated, there is no mention in the description here of title creation (just the ability to apply filters to titles - titles created in Avid? - presumably), so it appears to be of limited service for 900 bucks. Your recommendations have raised a follow-up question, and you appear knowledgeable about this subject, so I hope you won't mind my posing it.įirst, to close the loop on the Final Effects Complete question: Avid appears to be selling it here. Many thanks for your responses to my questions. MC 2021.9, HP Z2 G5 Mini Workstation, 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 8-Core (10th Gen), 32GB of 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM, NVIDIA Quadro T1000 (4GB GDDR6) I am eager to find a competent replacement for Avid FX/RED (that can do title rolls) that won't break the bank. What are other Media Composer users using as a replacement for Avid FX/Boris RED?.Most importantly: Do the titling capabilities of Media Composer Production Pack include title rolls?.How extensive are the features in the Media Composer Production Pack?.Does Final Effects Complete AVX 7 include titling capabilities (beyond what MC itself offers)?. Finally, the individual components from NewBlueFX, taken together, would suggest something equivalent to Avid FX/Boris RED, but the cost is pretty steep. At 700 bucks, the Avid Media Composer Production Pack has titling capabilities, but the features description suggests limitations in other respects. I see ads for Final Effects Complete AVX 7 (apparently a BorisFX product), Avid Media Composer Production Pack (ostensibly a collection of abbreviated NewBlueFX products), and sundry individual effects & titling components from NewBlueFX.Īt 900 bucks, Final Effects Complete AVX 7 would appear to be most complete, except that there is no mention of titling capabilities in the features description. So now I'm wondering what Media Composer users are using in place of RED. Much to my surprise, Boris is no longer selling RED, and I'm not eager to pay the high yearly subscription rates for Boris's specialized applications (which don't appear to include titling capabilities!). In fact, I did things with RED that I'm sure exceeded anything its creators intended it to do. With Xpress Pro HD I used Avid FX (Boris RED 4.3) for titling, compositing, rotoscoping, and pretty much everything else RED had to offer. Hope this helps.I have been editing on Xpress Pro HD since 2007, and just 2 weeks ago upgraded my hardware and software to Media Composer. Then before you Apply back, highlight the background track and in the Controls window, change the Key to Premultiplied Black. Then you will have the ability to change the duration of the title, and animate it. Then, apply Graffiti 5 as a filter to that Empty Event and access the Graffiti interface that way. However, if you wish to create an animated title without being linked to a media clip, the best way to do this is, within Vegas, select Insert > Empty Event, and place that Empty Event (basically blank media) on the timeline, possibly in a video track over the others. The Graffiti Generator is only creating a single frame. With this in mind, there is a work-around that you can suggest to the web board that you sent me to - I tried this. It's possible that it's really a Static Generator and Graffiti 5 doesn't come with a moving/non-static Generator, but I'm alerting QA/Engineering of this find. I just ran another test, having found that if Graffiti 5 is used as a filter this is adjustable, but if used as a Generator (as depicted in the link you gave) then it does indeed lock at one frame. Hi guys, just got a reply from Boris (as their support has been pretty dang awesome for me with this problem in my opinion).
